Description

Condrieu wines are arguably the greatest expression of the Viognier grape in France. This luminous golden-hued wine unveils the grape’s characteristics of apricot, white flowers, ripe pears. It’s vibrant acidity and supportive minerality are not lost in the silky, rich mouthfeel.

Harvested and sorted very carefully by hand, this Condrieu is made with respect to the tradition of the domaine. Alcoholic fermentation and malolactic conversion both occur in barrels, with occasional batonnage to stir the lees. Maturation in oak barrels last 6 months and go through light filtration before bottling.

Producer Info

Winemaking has been an integral part of the Grangier family since Roland’s grandfather tended vines for a living in addition to raising dairy cows. Roland’s father, Charles, settled in the city of Chavanay to establish his business, practicing polyculture of vines and fruits. It was not until 2002 that Roland took over his father’s vines, along with his neighbours to found the Domaine with 1.5 hectares of vines focusing solely on viticulture.

While protecting and passing on their tradition, the Domaine incorporates modern techniques in their wine making in order to best express the terroir of their vineyards. With his wife Céline, the Domaine now encompasses 11 hectares in 3 appellations of Condrieu, Saint Joseph and Côte Rôtie.
